wow. made it to the finish line just hours before the deadline, but the packages were gorgeous and bursting full of cosmetic-y goodness. the representative from the preble street teen center who came to pick them up was super excited and grateful, and sent me this really sweet email of thanks:
“The overflowing boxes of gifts were amazing. So beautifully done … and such a thoughtful project which we know had to take hours and hours and a huge amount of organizing. All the kindness and goodwill you put into the effort is truly what the holidays are supposed to be about and I hope bring you much joy! They will certainly be the coolest gifts at the Teen Center party!!”
i’m still waiting to hear how the party went, because ideally i’d like to get started on collections for next year. we were able to do a lot with just a few weeks, imagine what we could do with a full year!

here’s a picture of the packages before they headed out the door, but you can check out the flickr set to see the rest. everyone got: 2 nail polishes, 2 lip glosses, one flavored lip balm, 1 eye liner, 1 eye shadow, 1 blush or powder, 1 liquid liner or eyelash curler, 1 makeup bag, 1 journal, 1 pen, and one wild card item (depending on what was left over!).
Target has e.l.f. stuff now, super cheap! I bought two sets of makeup but the stuff can be mixed and matched. Was going to shop elsewhere for more, but instead I’ll go back for eyelash curlers! I didn’t think they’d want those, so thank your mentee for giving us a clue. Personally, I couldn’t live without mine. I’ll grab a few plus some mascara, which I deem a NECESSITY. Will deliver to you on Saturday. Yay!!!

Target was cleaned out of eyelash curlers! I’m hoping one of your other supporters grabbed some for the project. I nabbed a handful of mascaras instead, and a sexy little set of liquid eyeliner. Will coordinate delivery by Wednesday!
